Honest, Accessible & Fiscally Responsible

• Raised Taxes? Not Mason County. Although our State, Schools, Fire, EMT, Library, Hospital, Parks, Ports and more all raise your taxes yearly, our county has not. We have not even taken the automatic 1%. Even as your home values have gone up, The per $1,000 rate has gone down to match. In 2017 you paid $1.31 per $1,000 in home value. Today in 2024. it is $0.72 cents per $1,000 into county's general fund. 
• County budget: best shape in the history of the county. From a low of $175K cash on hand in 2016 up to $28 million on hand today. Without raising taxes in years.
• Successfully fought against the largest tax increase in Mason County history. 
• Introducing Vacation rental regulations to protect surrounding neighbors.
• Introducing my own request for local misdemeanor laws with a diversion that would have offenders leave the county for 6m to a 1 year and avoid prosecution.
• Unending support for Belfair Bypass – it is now fully funded. Construction 2026 
• Better infrastructure like roads (County not State), Port of Allyn Water System expansion and upgrades. Local improvements like, Sidewalks / Striping and resealing improvements / intersection lighting, Stop sign and intersection reflectors 
• Improving our parks, facilities and fields
• Kept sewer rates from ballooning. Compared to Hundreds per month in Shelton.
• Working on an Road Improvement Districts (RID) in hopes of paving some bad rural roads like Rasor road, Alderwood and Shetland and more coming soon.
• Brought the Belfair sewer operations cost, back into the black
• Refinanced debt when rates were low saving millions and millions of $$$

 I said I'd... Provide adequate funding for the Sheriff's Office 

• 83% increase in the Sheriff's budget ($9.7m-17.8m 2012-24)
• Funded 10+ new deputies positions
• Funded all new patrol vehicles with replacement every few years.
• Fully staffed North end precinct, better coverage and quicker response time for our citizens
• As the state made it harder for our officers to protect themselves, we provided them with

             all up to date non lethal weapons and protection tools to include a officer protection vehicle.

• New watercraft, Drones, armor vehicles, etc. The goal is to get each officer home safe
• Top pay for deputies to better retain and recruit great deputies.
• New equipment ( weapons, dash cams, radios and personal body cams and more)
• Pay for and allow outsourcing of inmates to continue incarcerating criminals during a nation wide Corrections Officer shortage. 

PLUS...

• Funded an additional Superior Court judge
• Expanded the role of the Court Commissioner and Therapeutic Courts
• Added a Veteran's Court to provide alternatives to incarceration
• Increased staffing for the Prosecutor and public defenders
• Increased staffing for probation officers
