I'm proud to be your friend, neighbor and when needed, you County Commissioner.
I live in Allyn and grew up in Belfair At the age of 15, I ran away and ended up here. I found a little trailer in the woods with no power or water and began my new life. I was alone and on my own. My father lived around here but I hardly knew him. Eventually, we became the best of friends. Being alone and scared, this community and these people took me in and raised me. They made me one of their own. I did Christmas's, Thanksgivings and even my birthdays at their homes. North Mason made me family and I can never forget that. They gave me everything including my identity. I have spent the last 45 years trying to pay them back but their love continues, so I will never catch up. I have nothing but gratitude for this community and this county. They took me in when I needed it most. This is what inspires me to give back and serve them. I owe them everything and am not confused about who I am. This is my home, my family, and dearest friends for over 45 years.
I went to North Mason High School, Played football, Track and Wrestled. I was elected and served as the A.S.B. president. In the yearbook you will find me pictured as having "Most School Spirit and "Did Most For The School" Funny, I never would have imagined it would lead me to where I am now. I've served 12 years as your Mason County Commissioner and 6 years as a Port of Allyn Commissioner. Over the years we have accomplished so much together and weathered so many storms. I Coached over 1,000 kids, volunteered to sit on and fix many local board and committees. We've accomplished much, but our work is not yet finished. There are tremendous things on the horizon for Mason County. I would be honored to continue serving you. I appreciate your trust. I'm asking for your vote.
I am a proud fiscal conservative who believes in not raising taxes and living within our means. Socially: I believe In individual rights and opinions. "You do you and I will do me" I wont try and convert you and you should not try to convert me or others into your lifestyle or personal beliefs.
Fought and succeeded at not raising taxes for years. You are paying more but thank the state, fire, schools and others but your county has not even taken the automatic 1% in years
I support and prioritize, first responders and fiscally responsible partnerships: I've has sat on the Mason County Law Enforcement and Firefighters Board for 12 years. Recently I worked tirelessly to help bring together a creative collaboration between the North Mason Fire Regional Authority and the County for a new North Mason Emergency Management Campus (Now open). This will include a new Mason County Sheriff's precinct, a new Emergency Management Department and additional county services to North Mason. More services at a lower expense – another "win-win" for the county budget and our residents.
EDUCATION
On my own at 15, I ran the whole gamut on education. Started at the bottom by getting a G.E.D. then my High School Diploma, Then an Associates of Arts and Science, a Bachelors of Science in Business Management and eventually a Masters of Science in Management, I also hold a prestigious Black Belt in the Six Sigma management improvement methodology. Education never ends! I have many areas of interest that I continue to work on today.
Long but shortened list of Boards and Committees as a Mason County Commissioner. (Yes Local Experience Matters)
I have received awards for my work with kids, including three from the North Mason School Board, two from the Washington State School Directors Association and another from the Kitsap County Association for Early Childhood Education. I have many many more awards for my coaching and community work with our kids.
I have been an active member or attendee of numerous planning committees and events over the past 30 years. The purpose of these include but are not limited to, educational facilities, parks, zoning, storm water run-off, sewer, local roads, urban growth area design, regional transportation corridors, safety mobility, mass transportation infrastructure, public works development (power, water) and ecological conservation planning. Now with 12 years as the decision maker and service on so many planning and infrastructure groups, I am now the pro,
